Rewards
Good tenancy, counted and paid back
Rewards build from the day you move in — for paying on time, for keeping a streak, and for staying. The longer you stay, the more your exit reward multiplies.
What you earn
Six ways rewards land in your account
Each one is automatic. There is nothing to claim, no form to send and no code to remember — pay on time, stay, and leave well.
A welcome reward
One lands in your account when you join. Nothing to do but move in.
Every on-time payment
Pay your rent on time and a reward is added that month. This is the one that does the most work over a lease.
Three months running
Keep a clean payment streak going and a quarterly bonus is added on top of the monthly reward.
Each anniversary
Every year you stay adds an anniversary reward, on top of everything you have already earned.
Long-stay milestones
Larger one-off rewards unlock once you pass two years, then three, with another further into a long stay. Renewing pays.
A clean exit
Settle your account and leave the property in good order, and your largest reward is released when you move out.
The ladder
Staying longer multiplies your exit reward
Your exit reward starts from a base amount set by your rent, then multiplies according to how long you have stayed. You move up a rung by paying on time — you never move back down.
Under 1 year
0.5×A shorter stay still earns an exit reward, at half the base.
From 1 year
2×Completing a first lease doubles it.
From 2 years
4×A first renewal doubles it again.
From 2½ years
6×Well into a second renewal.
From 4 years
8×The top of the ladder, and it stays there.
What a reward is worth
Real value, in the app
Your rewards show as a running balance in the ZD Rewards app, so you always know where you stand. Spend them in the in-app shop on everyday essentials — airtime, data and electricity — plus popular vouchers.
Rewards offset what the deposit waiver costs you. Earn steadily over a lease and the fee you actually carry drops well below the monthly amount on your statement.
Rewards are earned under the programme rules and have no cash value except as the programme provides. See our terms for the full detail.
An example
R5 000 rent, a three-year stay
Paying on time every month and leaving on good terms.
- Rewards earned
- R4 415
- Waiver fees paid
- R9 000
That works out to an effective R127 a month against a R250 monthly waiver fee.
Run your own numbersIllustrative, on a 5% waiver fee. Your rent, fee and length of stay change the outcome.
Renting should pay you back
